Event warmup:

100m swim
Swim
  • 11m 33s
  • 600 meters
  • 01m 56s / 100 meters
Comments:

Course was an out and back with large buoys approx 100m apart. I pushed to the 1st buoy, settled in for the second and third, rounded the corner and pushed again to the next buoy and again on the last 100m.
What would you do differently?:

Still slow swim need to work on technique
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

VERY dizzy coming out, through transition and onto the bike. Had to sit down to get wetsuit off. I must have been passed in transition as I didnt see anyone in my AG on the bike or run
What would you do differently?:

Ear plugs? Need to research as being dizzy was a huge concern.
Bike
  • 40m 47s
  • 12 kms
  • 17.65 km/hr
Comments:

Decent ride, I struggled on the first 1/3 as I was dizzy and somewhat out of it . "trusted the tires" and railed it through wet grass corners. also hammered through muddy/bog beaver dam section which the recommended to slow down for or even walk through. 1 gel and half water bottle on the bike
What would you do differently?:

faster on the hills and eliminate ALL coasting down hills
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

went fine no complaints. Took a good slug of gatorade before the run
What would you do differently?:

body glide on feet/shoes as my feet got torn up a little on the run.
Run
  • 31m 11s
  • 6 kms
  • 05m 12s  min/km
Comments:

Hammered it out up the road and was feeling great. The trail was a lot of fun but the wooden bridges were like ice. I nearly lost it and grabbed onto a tree to avoid wiping out. Slowly pitter pattered on remaining bridges. Hit road back and knew I was done so gave it all I had
What would you do differently?:

push harder!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

T1 dizzyness was a problem not only in T1 but also in the start of the bike

Event comments:

3rd in age group is my best result so I am happy about that. I normally compete in the full distance but it becomes a grind on the run. This race the fulll was a 17km run which was simply not going to be fun. I have to think about either seriously upping my training or decide to focus on sprints. I loved the race and was very comfortable not electing for the long course
