Sunny
Total Time = 2h 56m 36s
Overall Rank = 353/625
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 43/50
Pre-race routine:

EARLY morning. Woke up at 0500, had to be done in transition by 0630, race didn't officially start til 0730, I didn't get in the water until just after 0800. Had a banana and about 4 oz of strawberry skratch.
Event warmup:

Walked ~1 mile to swim start barefoot. Should have worn sandals or something or ridden shuttle. No other warmup besides light stretching while in line for swim.
Swim
  • 26m 18s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 45s / 100 meters
Comments:

Overall a good swim. Felt I was holding a comfortable pace the entire time. Successfully tried bilateral breathing about half the time which helped me keep a moderate pace. Passed a few people, only ran into one of them.
Transition 1
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

Did not have shoes clipped in for this one, I think that is ok. Would not have saved me much time overall.
What would you do differently?:

Try taping gels to bar. I fumbled them a bit trying to get into my jersey pocket.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 25s
  • 40 kms
  • 30.61 km/hr
Comments:

Felt cramping during second lap, I knew I was going too fast, but I didn't slow down. Should have finished both bottles early, was too dehydrated on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Finish both bottles. Try 3 gels. SLOW DOWN.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Did not get out of shoes or try rolling dismount. Was pretty tired. Had a relatively quick transition though, was ranked 92nd fastest.
What would you do differently?:

Get out of shoes and do rolling dismount.
Run
  • 1h 08m 4s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 49s  min/km
Comments:

Blew up on the run. Felt ok for the first mile, but then lost all energy. Tried to recover but ended up drinking too much at each water break (full cup each time) and had sloshy belly and shortness of breath.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike, only sips at each water break.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, had severe shortness of breath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HOT. Dehydrated. Not enough liquid on the bike, too much on the run.

Event comments:

Very well organized race. Plenty of rack space in transition. Some decent options for post-race food and beverages. Excellent venue in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. Fairly flat course but it is hot being in June. Looking forward to next year!
