Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:30 pick up Amanda 5:15. Could have had another 15 minutes.Oh yeah remembered that I forgot to train. Set and walked around. Eyed the buoys that were way to far out. LOL.
Event warmup:

Not much gentle shoulder stretches and got some water in wet suit.
Swim
  • 37m 39s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim, Into the chop right away so drank a little water to start with. Nice trip with the waves and wind into the canal. Canal fairly clean.
What would you do differently?:

Train the swim with Ridgelake to have him push me.
Transition 1
  • 04m 20s
Comments:

Stopped at porta potty and took care of some business. WTF. Talked to Jim. Not while in porta potty.
Bike
  • 3h 39m 7s
  • 56 miles
  • 15.33 mile/hr
Comments:

Holy headwind Batman. When it wasn't from the front it was buffering you from the side. Seems to be only a short 4 mile strip it was helping you. Having an early swim wave and a good swim seemed like I was passed by 200+ bikes in the first two hours.. Did get one compliment I think. A guy said keep her going and that was a good swim as he passed me. Meaning, I think, you must have had a good swim to get out this far before I caught your fat ass. OH thanks. Good bike but not as fast as Chatt.
Transition 2
  • 07m 19s
Comments:

What old guys have more to do.
What would you do differently?:

Remembered my BASE salts.
Run
  • 3h 25m 55s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 15m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Hotter but not overly brutal. Windy which was nice. Stomach from using Slayer was in good shape. The knee was a little cranky. Walked ran trying to run farther than I walked. Ticked the miles off until 11 where the tummy flipped despite the Strawberry/lemon genny cream ale at Kurt's at mile 6.5. Walked the last two miles in. Inga and the gang cheered my in.
What would you do differently?:

Train
Post race
Warm down:

Shouldn't it be cool down. Glad to see the kiddie pools back for cooling down. Stood in there till the left big toe settled and it felt like it was on fire. Got food to take home and hobbled to the truck.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training and time too.

Event comments:

Muselman. Well organizes and run. Support by the area.
