Run
Comments: This event may be a run, but it's certainly not a race. There are no time chips, no race numbers. Really how serious can it be when there are runners in satin prom gowns and tiaras? It was a blast to see so many women and girls of all ages out there running or walking the course for a good cause, and for the fun of it. I was accompanied by two very new runners. We jogged till they were winded and needed to walk. Then once they were rested we'd run again. This was perfect, because I am under orders not to overdo my training with too much running at this point in my physical therapy. I had a blast and I was glad to be able to cheer on a couple of beginners. One of the girls used to run in high school, but since moving away from home and getting married, hasn't been too active. In fact, she joined me on a lark. We were out having drinks with friends. When she heard I was doing a run in the morning she started telling me about all the fun races she's done in the past. She then said "I should run with you tomorrow" I was surprised and very pleased. The other friend has taken up running, because it's her husband's favorite hobby, and they want to do "Beat the Bridge" together in May. She did really well, and I think she pushed herself to run more than she had expected. So Very Proud of these gals. So back to my race. I love racing in a crowd, and I'm so thrilled to be laced into running shoes and out in the fresh air. The sun came out and shone on the city skyline. I Didn't Overdo It.... those of you who gave me advice, when I was undecided as to how to run this race, can no stand down red alert. I did not hurt myself just for the sake of a good time to post on my BT blog. :) This is the slowest I have ever run a race, but in a way I'm very proud of myself for doing the right thing and taking care of my back. What would you do differently?: Nada en absoluto. Post race
Warm down: walked to car, took photo with Tara, drove up Lake Washington to Starbucks for a NF Gingerbread Latte. What limited your ability to perform faster: A still-healing low back. Event comments: A truly goofy race. I felt decidedly under-dressed. My gesture to the girliness of the race was to wear a fuzzy scarf and earrings. I'll definitely do this run again next year, maybe then I'll don a string of pearls and a sparkly gown. Last updated: 2006-11-24 12:00 AM

Drank a glass of EmergenC, and a cup of coffee. Picked up my friend Tara on my way to the race. She made us smoothies!
Registered and paid for race. (procratinators unite!) Found Tanya and her husband and daughters. Chatted, stretched, clapped and cheered for the Little Diva 1/2 mile run. Too Cute! Admired the fabulous constumes of the gals that dressed up for the occasion. Many a tiara and feather boa were being worn.
