Pre-race routine:

Stayed at sisters in Fishers, she also competed today. Ate oatmeal, coffee and banana and left.
Event warmup:

Ran 1/4 mile to loosen up and then sat in gym for 30 minutes before start of race.
Swim
  • 07m 41s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Considering I haven't been in a pool, I did pretty well. I can't complain about my swim; however, the turns were a cluster_____.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more than twice in last 2 1/2 months
Transition 1
  • 03m 36s
Comments:

Longer run to transition, felt great considering I thougth I was going to die. Almost forgot to put on socks and shoes before taking bike...oops. Put on bike helmut and it wouldn't "click". I lost about 30 - 45 seconds trying to snap my helmut.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 45m 4s
  • 10 miles
  • 13.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Considering that I have been on my bike once before today, I thought I did very well. Although my left leg cramped and the peddle cage kept my foot going, I did well. Ears hurt from wind.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more than a couple of miles before hand.
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

When my feet hit the ground I felt like I had limp spaghetti for legs. Kept moving. Racked bike, took off helmut, put on hat and RAN out of T2. Impressive that I actually ran!!!
What would you do differently?:

DO NOT DRINK POWERADE BEFORE STARTING TO RUN.....WATER....WATER...WATER!
Run
  • 35m 41s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to run for the entire time. No run/walk/run/walk. I did walk four times and counted to 10 each time and started running. I felt very proud...I was trying to concentrate on running over winter...1-2 times per week, but on treadmill.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not the correct training and the addition of 15 pounds since last summer

Event comments:

I would recommend this race to anyone who has never participated in a tri before and for those who are just beginning. It is fun and a great way to find a starting point for the season. I will definitely be back next year.
