Comments:

felt very good on swim, battled on and off with crowds, mostly on the turns but not as bad as i thought it would be. out of the water a little faster than i thought i would and i am feeling great. weather is awesome going to have a great day!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

not much, maybe swim a little harder in beginning but overall happy with swim. and can always train more....

Comments:

well 16mi out went great feeling good, confortable. start of first 40mi loop the first little climb just past special needs i loose my chain cant unclip quick enough so i fall. crash not bad get up quick jump back on bike start to go and my seat falls of??? yes my seat fell off what a freak thing to happen never seen that before... i cant get it to snap back on so i balance it on and off i go having to hold it on with my legs while pedaling and adjusting with hands every few minutes. i ride like that to the next aid station. try to fix there but no luck so i find some tape and tape the heck out of it. worked okay but just not vary confortable but better than no seat... all and all lose maybe 20 minutes not bad.. finsish fist loop around 3 hours, not bad and i am feeling great 1 to go....
i start feeling sick to my stomach about 6 mile from mt horeb aid station and after climb to get there i was in trouble. stop at aid station and vomit for 10 minutes but then feel better so off i go... made it to next aid station and just feeling awful... dry heaving and at this point not sure if i can go on. a volunteer came over to see if i was okay and i told her not sure if i could go on. I think she was a angel, she wouldnt let me quit. she brought me ice, water pieces of orange and sat with me until i started feeling better. little over 30 miles to go so back off i went and made it to the bike finish....still having fun, just suffering a bit 26.2 miles to go and i can run, walk and crawl and should be able to make cut off!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

i felt strong, but still do not have nutrition down. still need to work on that.. and always can put more miles in.....if not for stomach issues and crash should have finished around 6 hours and that was my goal, o'well....but i did make it..
Transition 2
  • 11m 2s
Comments:

transition was fine. slow only becouse not feeling well took my time, had something to each and drank a v8.... once again volunteers were awesome.....
What would you do differently?:

nothing....
Run
  • 6h 08m 38s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 14m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

walk and run walk and run then became more walking.... day began to wear on me.. but i still was having a blast.. the people were great out there cheering you on all night long.... my time was out the window, but i knew i was going to finish so i was just enjoying it......the last 1.5 miles i ran as hard as i could and that last 3/4th was amazing.. crowds cheering and finally crossing to here mike call out you are and ironman was one of the greatest moments in my life...........
What would you do differently?:

not much, the lack of nutrition on bike killed any chances at a good run...just finishing was good enough for me on the first one, next time i will compete....
Post race
Warm down:

drank coke and ate pizza and got my gear, i just covered 140.6 miles that was enough for the day........

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nutrition nutrition nutrition.... and could always train more....next year focusing on doing halfs and finding a nutrition plan my body agrees on, but i will be back at im in '09....

Event comments:

all i can say awesome event.........
