Comments:

I felt great the first 8 miles but started to struggle as we entered the park. The heat got to me pretty quickly for the end of the race. Coming out of the park up to about 12.5 miles was slow going for me and my body rejected my last gu so I got sick and had to walk for a bit. This put me well behind my goal time for this race, but that's how the day went. I was on track to meet it if I had not had a little sickness so I think I can meet my goal for the next one, hopefully in early summer.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my mental fortatude for when I am hot. It's only up to me to keep going and I need to toughen it up for miles 11-12 when I start deteriorating mentally.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much here. I did not not stretch (bad Hannah). just walked around and cheered for folks coming in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat was a factor for me. I think this contributed to my getting sick. I know that I could have worked through it and hopefully not gotten sick if I had slowed down more and had some more water. This is where I need to work on my inner coach to keep me running the right race for the conditions. I should have told myself to recover and get hydrated and then pick it back up for the end and come in faster. Lessons for next time.

Event comments:

The course was challenging good.

Course: This was a tough but mostly beautiful course. I could do without the switchback on Juniper towards the end. It was annoying and they should change that for next year. Running through sweet Auburn area was the prettiest part of the run but coming through Virgina Highlands was nice too after a boring stretch on Freedom Pkwy. Also half marathon markers were either not there or not clear after mile 5. After the split off I only saw marathon markers and had to calculate where I was, but I had a decent idea from the looking at the map before hand. I would have liked more water stations at the end of the race and I did not get one sip of power aid which would have been nice.
