Pre-race routine:

Got to transition about 6:30. Got set up. The two girls next to me were so annoying. They knew each other and kept talking over me as I was setting up my area. Finished setting up and went over to talk to a friend
Event warmup:

Stretching, walking around, jumped in the water and swam out to one of the buoys and back
Swim
  • 16m
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 08s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good experience for second OWS. Had concerns earlier in the week of not being able to finish the swim. Took a while to get in sync.
What would you do differently?:

Again, I did not kick much during the swim. Need to remind myself to kick
I could swim faster. I am never tired or breathing hard when I finish the swim. I just swim at a comfortable pace. Need to push myself as it is my strongest discipline.
Transition 1
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

Not put my shirt on backwards. Not talk to family and friends.
Bike
  • 45m
  • 12 miles
  • 16.00 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Stop looking around. I am not on a scenic tour. Good thing I have only raced in my own backyard. I can only imagine the sightseeing I would do if I raced in a new venue.

Put gu in bento box
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition. Forgot my gu on the bike and then forgot to take it on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Bring the gu
Run
  • 40m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Actually, probably drank plenty during the race but was not well hydrated before the race. Got the chills during the run and walked a good bit. Felt pretty bad and probably should have DNF. Probably suffered from heat exhaustion
What would you do differently?:

drink more during the week before the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Was pretty sick after for about an hour. Walked around a bit. Felt fine then for most of the day and then felt bad in the evening and the following day. Felt good by Tuesday

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am slow.

Event comments:

First time for this race. Based on the temp, the race should have started an hour earlier. Only one aid station on the run. Not enough when the temp is almost 100.
