Swim

  • 800 meters
  • 02m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

After the turnaround bouy, there were a few guys from the next wave that weren't staying on the far side of the bouy. (ie: headed right for me at one point.) I realize now I didn't have to stay that far out, near the bouys and could've gone a little closer to shore.

The swim was really exciting and I was really proud of myself for completing it and doing pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

KNOW that I can do it!!
Transition 1
  • 04m 53s
Comments:

Little things slowed me down. I should've practiced this before the race. (Getting sand off feet, etc.) Felt slightly disorganized here.
What would you do differently?:

Practice this prior to race.
Bike
  • 51m 35s
  • 14 miles
  • 16.28 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was such an accomplishment for me. I really pushed my best, especially on the hills. I thought I'd be intimitated by the hills, but took them hard.

What would you do differently?:

Practice a lot more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Everything was awesome up until this point... my brother crashed going into T2 and got hurt pretty bad. I didn't see him there until I started my run (I guess I biked right past him and didn't see him on the ground!).
Run
  • 29m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

At this point, I had a cramp on both sides. I was really upset about my brother and was pretty darn tired.
What would you do differently?:

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
Post race
Warm down:

None! Well, I walked a little. Headed straight to the hospital.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramp in run. Need more practice overall.

Event comments:

Maybe I missed signs, but I felt that that heading into T2 was a bit dangerous; and that we didn't have much notice. Seemed like an abrupt stop, but then again, I don't know if I missed something. My sister had the same problem and we're not sure what happened with my brother, as he doesn't remember the crash. :(

Overall, awesome race. I plan to do it again.
