Swim
Comments: The frenzy swim lives up to its name - by the time I swam the heats were all messed up and it was time to find 4 swimmers who did roughly the same time and jump in. My heat included someone who said she did 9.50, others at 11 and one at 12...as a result we were all over the place - I passed some, was then passed by others only to have them catch their breath on the wall and I'd have to go ahead of them again! Overall though my best time at this event so no real complaints What would you do differently?: Practice flip turns and train to get under 7:30..then I could be in the fast lane!( a man can dream!) Transition 1
Comments: I lose all sorts of time in transitions - its like a time warp - I could have sworn I was out of there in less than 2 mins..not so - need to figure out where to cut this in half at least What would you do differently?: Practice transitions - Bike
Comments: I've worked on the bike the most this year and had a goal to beat 40 mins - so mission accomplished. Chatting to a coach and club member at the end of the race he mentioned the adage - "Dont leave your run on the bike" - more on that to come..overall really pleased to beat the 40 min mark What would you do differently?: Nothing ( buy a new set of race wheels? shhhhh! dont tell the wife) Transition 2
Comments: Another slow transition - definitely need to be better in this area What would you do differently?: Be faster - try the no sock thing Run
Comments: First mile was very hard - I paid for pushing on the bike - the coaches adage proved correct..not sure of my split but had to be in the 8.45 range for mile 1- 2nd mile around 8.15 and 7.40ish for the 3rd..not very good! I'd been running in the 7.30 range so this was poor for me. I'd hoped to be around 23.30 for this portion. Oh well..still beat last years run by over a minute What would you do differently?: need to train for time trials so I know how to push the bike and not affect my run so much Post race
Warm down: Water - Chipolte and lots of gabbing in our VIP club tent! Found out we have way too many good athletes in our club! Some very fast for their age! Turns out Z-dog got me by 2.2 secs! Nice job Zev...damn transitions! What limited your ability to perform faster: No real training in the last 2 weeks..real life got in the way! Plus some end of season lethargy! Event comments: The Frenzy is a great closer to the season and its our club event - so I'd recommend it to anyone who lives in the south/south east Denver - come join the PTC too..fun bunch and lots of great activities- you dont have to Tri alone! Unusual to say the least - this event is 2 miles from my house and does not require you to be out of transition before the race - so, a leisurely sunday morning was spent pottering around and gathering all my stuff
Biked to the event - alot of chatting to club members and generally just waiting around BSing
