Age Group Rank = 2/6
Pre-race routine:

Showered, shaved, and had eggs, tortillas, and a few cups of coffee. This will be important later.
Event warmup:

Jogged about a half mile and stretched.
Swim
  • 06m
  • 300 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Comments:

I really think that my swim was faster than this, but I screwed up on my watch so this is really my best guess. Considering I seperated my shoulder in July I have never felt better in the water at a race. I was able to pass five people during the swim part of this which was last on this race. Also, the first half of the swim I had to do with a severly cramped left calf. It didn't slow me down but it really hurt and I think that it was from being dehydrated.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1

Bike
  • 40m
  • 13 miles
  • 19.50 mile/hr
Comments:

Consdering that this was after my run and I went pretty hard on the run, and I was going pretty hard on the bike my not drinking enough water before the race was starting to catch up to me. I was trying to hydrate during the race instead of hydrating in the days before the race. So near the end of the bike my calves were starting to cramp. Even with this happening it was still my best bike segment of any race it was just uncomfortable at the end. Also, since this was after the run I was able to pass about 10-15 people going into the head wind, and then hold my spot after the turn around with a tail wind.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate better before the race.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 27m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

I really felt that I was going slower than usual becasue so many people were passing me on the run. After hearing my time split time I was really happy because that was faster than I have ran in the past.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Caught my breath and tried to get hydrated.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping from being dehydrated. I still fill that I went faster than I have ever gone, but it would have made the last half of the race more comfortable.

Event comments:

Since this is a reverse tri it really suits me well and it is the only race that has a drink station on the run. I really like that!
