Pre-race routine:

Hopped in the shower...ate half of a fruit and nut bar..a few pretzels and headed to the race start. Met up with Amy, Vanessa, Nick but never found Joe :( The weather was warm so was unsure of bringing my long sleeve....
Event warmup:

None to speak of....just the walk to the start from the car...

Comments:

The race started and we were up front and on the right just like I like. We started off a bit fast as usual...8 minute mile. Paul ran off right away..later found out he ran a 7:10 first few miles. After the first mile the sprinkling started and well...it didnt stop until half way through. Some down pour occurred between lenox and piedmont. To say I was soaked is the understatement of the year. Was feeling heavy so I took off the long sleeve and carried it a few miles (up cardiac hill) and finally threw it off by a friend's house (only to later find it still there!). Anyhow back to the race..Amy from ATC bailed at Phipps due to a stress fracture in her foot so it left Nick and I to run. This was his first half mary and I had talked him into it, so i felt like I couldnt whine about my soaking wet feet and crazy blisters. Thankfully he was there or else I would have stopped and walked my feet were so miserable. Ok so now I have on no sleeves and lil running shorts. Then the temp dropped 10 degrees and i was freezing through midtown. Left Nick at 26th street and just decided to take it on in solo. I am so glad I talked myself into finishing the race. Got to the Capital hill and saw Paul and he ran me in. I know my goal was under 2 hours but I was completely happy with my time. Hurried to my warm car and dry clothes...and got a power bagel. God bless Einstein's for being open on Thanksgiving!
What would you do differently?:

Waited around after to cheer people on..I was just to cold and wet to enjoy the post race festivities. Other then that I am gonna continue on with training....i've missed racing.

Event comments:

As always everyone was so happy to be out on thanksgiving which made for a great race..even in the cold there were people cheering us on. I love this race and will continue to do it so I can eat lots of turkey and not feel guilty!
