Pre-race routine:

Had a Myoplex shake, a cup of coffee, and some toast after I woke up. Had some gatorade and water in the car on the way down to the race. Caravaned with some friends and found great parking! Hung out in the kids' area until about 6:45. Made my way over to the corrals and found my friend Reed. We were talking and listening to Coach Snyder recall a story about Pat Tillman when I saw Tanya (Standswithfist).
Event warmup:

Some stretching and just loosening up. Wasn't going to go 100%, but knew I'd beat last year's time (I'm much faster now).

Good run - - fastest pace run for me. Some hills and very crowded, but a good run.
What would you do differently?:

Not much - - maybe work on some more speed work heading up to this - - -but I need to do that anyway

Warm down:

Walked around - - waited for my wife and friends. Got ready for the kids' race.
I did get a post-race massage for the first time. Damn that felt good.

Weird - The first mile was my fastest 6:57. Wonder what it would've been if I didn't have to bob and weave through the crowd. If you know you run a 9 minute mile, please don't try to line up at the start of the corral.
Course: Up Rio Salado and across Mill. Down Curry and around to Rural Rd. Up Satdium and through Lot 59 into Sun Devil Satdium.
