Event warmup:

swam, light stretch
Swim
  • 33m 56s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wow, my navigation was terrible. I couldn't swim a straight line! Really need to work on that.
heading to shore I kept going right with the chop/waves even when I made a huge effort to swim left, not because of pull or current, just mental.
The distance was no problem for me. (I probably added a quarter of mile zigzagging!)
What would you do differently?:

practice navigating in choppy dark water. This was much more difficult to navigate for me than a gulf swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
What would you do differently?:

need tri specific bike shoes
Bike
  • 1h 23m 50s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.78 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt ok on the cobblestone and dealing with speed bumps.
I was so concerned about the run, that I rode this like a Sunday stroll. Bad idea because the run was going to be tough anyway.
What would you do differently?:

I really should have picked up the pace. I just didn't really push at all.

I might start looking at tri bikes. I didn't see many road bikes. There must be something to that.
Transition 2
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

Had a hard time getting bike shoes off and running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Not liking my running shoes with the quick ties. They seem to fit differently, may need some tweaking or try out tri specific running shoes.
Run
  • 1h 09m 44s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

At some point on the bike my stomach was cramping. It only got worse during the run. I was sooooo bloated at the end, my stomach popped out. I looked 3/4 months pregnant. It went back to normal in about 7 hours. Very painful.
I managed to jog the whole way other than walking the water stations.
What would you do differently?:

I really need a lot of advice on nutrition both pre and during the race.
Stomach was a wreck, need to find out why.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around looking for my husband, couldn't find him so got a massage. Nice!
Stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I loved the race. It is just what I needed. My goal was to learn how to do an Olympic and now I have a better idea of what I need to work on.
Not overly thrilled with my performance, but considering the lack of training the last few weeks, I'm happy I was able to finish and I wasn't last!
Also, need more stuff!!

Event comments:

beautiful venue, great course, well organized.
