Pre-race routine:

Promised my wife that I would walk the run portion is my leg started to have ANY pain. So my expectations were not very high for the race. Woke up had a marathon bar and 24oz of gatoraid. Took a shower and headed to site.
Event warmup:

little stretching.
Swim
  • 07m 37s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt slow in the swim but was only 1 place off my projected time. One person caught me on the last lap. I didn't seem to get into a groove, head kept poping up to see where I was.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more>>>>
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

Slow as heck since I didnt expect anything from this race, took my sweet old time. After seeing results should have picked it up alittle.
Bike
  • 39m 14s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike felt great, still had a lot more in the tank but wasn't sure how hard to push on the hills. not a bad average since the fastest biker was only a couple MPH faster.
What would you do differently?:

Could have went alittle harder but other than that it was a good ride. At end found some people going closer to my speed so that pushed me more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Had to put aircast on for run, took forever.!!
Run
  • 26m 4s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

1st run in 6 weeks! Ran on the grass while everyone else ran on the sidewalks. Had trouble with my air cast cramping up my calf. Took a nice easy slow pace. Felt great. If I could have ran at all would have been a great finish!!
What would you do differently?:

not have a broken leg!
Post race
Warm down:

picked up mine and Angie stuff as it started to rain. Then watched everyone else finish. Our group did awsome.

Event comments:

Nice race, course was not very easy for a beginner though! fist big downhill had a 90deg turn part way down it. I hit the turn at around 35mph while other were crashing or going sooo slow. Made for a dangerous turn. Other than that a great course to start off the year.
