Pre-race routine:

Got up on time, put stuff in the truck and drove to the event. Once there, I wandered over to check out the transition area and then got my bike and picked out a spot. Then I set everything out and walked around until it was time to get into the water.
Swim
  • 27m 58s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I found out that I need more work on my swim. I was breathing every 2 stokes instead of the usual 3 strokes. It took almost a lap before I finally settled down and got into a rhythm.
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

The transition was ok. I was more disoriented that I though I would be coming out of the water. I really don't remember much about T1.
Bike
  • 1h 13m 11s
  • 25 miles
  • 20.50 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike went fairly well. No flats!! I had 2 on the last race. It took me several miles before I finally got my bike legs under me. Once I did, though, I stated riding fairly well for me. I could tell that I was riding harder than I usually do and knew that I would suffer on the run because of it. Oh well. It's a race. It's supposed to hurt a little.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

I thought this transition went fairly well. I was more aware of what I was doing this time than T1.
Run
  • 48m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

It started raining just after I got off of the bike, so fortunately I didn't have to ride in the rain. It started off with a soft, gentle rain that soon turned into some of the biggest drops I have seen in a long time. It rained really hard for about 10 minutes and then let up a bit but still rained most of the rest of the run. I was really hurting for the first mile, maybe mile and a half, after the hard bike ride. The top of my hamstrings and groin muscles were very sore after the bike and really kept me from getting a good rhythm early. But once I got used to the pain, it went fairly well.
Post race
Event comments:

I was expecting some sandwiches, chips and good munchies after the race. What they had was a couple of jars of peanut butter, bagles, cups of what looked like oyster crackers and bananas. I get sick at the smell of peanut butter and a bagel didn't sound good at all, so I just got a banana and ate the rest of the pop-tarts that I had leftover from breakfast. I was VERY disappointed in the post offerings.

Other than that, it was a great race. Let me know what I need to work on for future races.
