Pre-race routine:

Breakfast! Forced myself to eat some pancakes, eggs and sausage.
Event warmup:

None! Is this bad? I figured the swim warm up.
Swim
  • 30m 17s
  • 1600 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Really quite pleased with the swim. I could have gone faster but this was my 1st Oly and just wanted to swim without stopping, which I did. Got my goggles kicked off my face right at the start but soon got them on again. I actually swam OVER someone! LMAO! Never done that before. hehe
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I'm so happy with this result. 2nd lap was 2 minutes faster than 1st. Can't fault that.
Transition 1
  • 06m
Comments:

Dizzy. Dizzy. Dizzy.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more swim to bike bricks to accomplish not falling over in the water. Maybe try earplugs. It's just a nuisance otherwise!
Bike
  • 1h 47m 16s
  • 22 miles
  • 12.30 mile/hr
Comments:

Might think about getting new pedals. I do like being clipped in but still have not mastered hills correctly.
What would you do differently?:

More hills. Clipping in and out constantly.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 1h 45m 10s
  • 6.3 miles
  • 16m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Walked mostly all of this. Knee was just bugging me a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Erm. NOT fall off my bike?
Post race
Warm down:

STARBUCKS!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Falling.

Event comments:

I love Budu Racing. They are so friendly, helpful and fun. They even give you a free picture of you crossing the finish line. It was wonderful. Unfortunately because I finished so late most of the post race activties had finished. Not their fault obviously. I always walk away from these events with a great sense of achievement and can't wait to do another Budu Event. I recommend them 110%!

Wind on the way out. I was seriously getting blown all over the place. What a bugger it was. The largest hill towards the end got me. I crashed. Over I went. Road rash and a twisted knee later. I cried at the side of the road for a bit before getting back on. Stopped at the turnaround to get bandaged up, probably not necessary I'm sure but I was hurting. Hit 27MPH on the way back. Was just glorious out! Nice and warm and a tailwind!
