Pre-race routine:

had some perpetuem when we woke up at 4 and sipped some on the drive there.
Event warmup:

porta potty line, and then when setting up transition about 20 min to the start, realized my shirt was in the car, over half a mile away! ugh. so I jogged to the car, walked a little on the way back and ran the rest of the way so got in a mile "run" before getting down to the water. .ugh. :)
Swim
  • 12m 23s
  • 457 meters
  • 02m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

pretty crowded at the start, and interesting like last year b/c you have to tread water for a couple of min before the gun. last yr I thought I'd have a good shot at placing in the top 5 - but of course, I didn't start training until last week.. so that wasn't going to happen this year. there's always next yr.
What would you do differently?:

more training of course..
Transition 1
  • 03m 28s
Comments:

first tri of the season so just kind of taking it easy..
239/417
What would you do differently?:

could pick up the pace
Bike
  • 23m 14s
  • 8 miles
  • 20.66 mile/hr
Comments:

i still think the course is shorter than 8mi, but hey I'll take the time and avg. of course slower than last year when I had 6 months of base traning compared to 9 days. :)
What would you do differently?:

ride ride ride...
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

usual easy pace.. first try. will go faster next time..
184/417
Run
  • 31m 18s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

actually felt stronger this year on the run - maybe proper nutrition helps.. and not going all out in the swim and bike compared to last year. happy to be under 9min mile considering my conditioning - steady pace
What would you do differently?:

more than 9 days traning to prepare
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed some water and banana, then went out onto the course to find kerry. found her about .6 miles from the finish (where I got my shirt earlier) ran back in with her and watched her finish strong.. with even less training not a bad finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of conditioning

Event comments:

ran this race last year, and this year.. and will do it again. it's really a great beginning course, and a course that you can shoot for a PR.
