Event warmup:

I swam 100 then the made us get out of the pool.
Swim
  • 08m 47s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think the added 1 minute to everyone's time on the swim. My watch had me at 7:12 for the actual swim. The timing mat to end the swim time was at the entrance to transition, but I know I made the 20 yards much faster than 1:30. Oh well, it was good practice.
What would you do differently?:

Swim harder. I felt very relaxed and I could have pushed it a bit more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

I need to try riding and running without socks to shave some time off of this. I wasn't slow, but I could have been much faster.
What would you do differently?:

Not wear socks for the bike and run.
Bike
  • 44m 9s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 16.89 mile/hr
Comments:

It was a good ride. A bit cold but tolerable.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder gears during training rides on the trainer to get me ready for hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Not much to say here. I could have saved some time if I would have taken my feet out of my shoes before I got off the bike, but the last time I tried that one of my shoes actually came unclipped and I think it took more time to stop and get it.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Run
  • 24m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I need to stretch my calves on the bike before I get off so they don't cramp at the beginning of the run.
They just adjusted the results. This is the fastest 5K I've ever run. I can't believe that after the hilly bike.
What would you do differently?:

I need to run more in training. Once the figure out how to replace the cartilage in my knee I'll do that.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out and waited for Jenny and Amy to come in on the bike and then strolled around while they ran and cheered for others finishing up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't go 100% because I have St. Anthony's next week and I want to kick a$$ there.
I need to get my bike out on more hills if I'm going to feel comfortable at IM Louisville this year.

Event comments:

This was a good race and I'm glad we found one this early in the year. I'm pretty sure I will be doing it again next year. I'm not sure I can talk my wife into doing it again because of the hills, but I'm going to try.
