Pre-race routine:

I ate at IHOP at 5:30 am. I had two eggs, some hash browns, 2 strips of bacon, coffee, water. Drove to Carmel. Got set up in transistion area.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 08m 17s
  • 400 meters
  • 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

I underestimated my swim time and ended up passing a lot of swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

Wear Aquashere XP's.
Transition 1
  • 03m 25s
Comments:

It is hard for me to run in cycling shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Wear 1-piece tri-suit on non-wetsuit tri's.
Bike
  • 32m 40s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Ride was good with not much congestion until near the finish when a vehicle got in the way and then stopped abruptly. When this happened, I had to swerve into the left lane and just narrowly avoided crashing with another cyclist.( sorry, youth rider who I scared!) I lost a water bottle when I missed my cage replacing it.
What would you do differently?:

Put Gatorade Endurance bottle in front cage and water in rear cage. Make sure bike is in proper gear at start. Consider buying tri shoes.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

For some reason T2 and run time is combined so I don't know my true times for each section. I estimated the T2 time, but really have no idea if this is accurate.
What would you do differently?:

Wear racing flats which have speed laces instead of my trainers. That would have saved time.
Run
  • 30m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out with heavy legs but settled into steady pace for the the entire run.
What would you do differently?:

Get new sunglasses. Mine bounce on my nose.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I took it easy this race. I have had some knee pain and haven't trained for the last two weeks and I wanted to see how my knees would react. I wanted to see if I could regain training and not hurt them again. Today is Monday and they feel okay.

Event comments:

A little chilly in gym waiting for the swim start when you are only in your swim suit, but overall a very nice event.
