Total Time = 1h 25m 56s
Overall Rank = 353/500
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 28/34
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:40am.
Ate a Sweet 'n Salty Planters Bar and Drank 1/2 of a gatorade for breakfast.
Event warmup:

Slow Jog Followed by a Stretch. I tried out the water to see how cold it was and swam around a bit.
Swim
  • 13m 19s
  • 437 yards
  • 03m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall a poor swim. I did finish but I was forced to pick my head up out of the water more than I would of liked. I was also kicked and flailed into a few times. I got a few pounds of weeds in my legs and arms too. Overall a poor swim.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do more endurance training in the pool. I'm not doing large enough sets. I've been doing alot of 50's and a few 100's. I now know that I need to work my way up to 2 x 400 sets for a workout and then eventually to 2 x 800 sets.
Transition 1
  • 03m 42s
Comments:

You had to run your bike out of the transition and it was a long run out of the transition area -- or so it seemed.
What would you do differently?:

I would bring a milk crate to sit down on to put on my socks for the bike/run. I was pretty tired and I was swaying back and forth, I need a place to sit.
Bike
  • 36m 47s
  • 9.94 miles
  • 16.21 mile/hr
Comments:

None.
What would you do differently?:

I would pedal even harder and shift up 2-3 gears going down some of the hills. I could've picked up more speed in some spots.
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Very fast transition. No gear changes required.
What would you do differently?:

I would've ran a little harder next to my bike.
Run
  • 31m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I should've pushed a little harder on the run -- especially during the last mile. During the last mile my legs began to loosen up a bit more.
Post race
Warm down:

A short 2 minute jog.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow T1. I didn't train hard enough for the run and I didn't train right for the swim. I can definitely do better.

Event comments:

A Great first race. I had alot of fun and I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
