Swim
Comments: i didn't panic like i'd heard is common. positioned myself at the front as i am a pretty strong swimmer and worked well. i followed another strong swimmer for a while. didn't get hit or kicked and don't remember getting anyone else. sighting was hard, although i had scoped out a flag pole to site on the day eariler. that did help. my arms started feeling like lead about 250yards in but i just pushed thorugh it. i caught up to the slower swimmmers in the wave in front of me and that was a bit hard trying to swim around them. What would you do differently?: i think i did pretty much what i wanted to do. my google were a bit clouded so it was harder to site, so maybe make sure the anti fog was working like i wanted it to. Transition 1
Comments: long run to the transition area.was one of the first few into transition for my wave. i think i did pretty good. i knew i had to be careful with my wetsuit as it was a rental and didn't want to ding it up to bad. shoes and socks went on ok. i forgot to zip the vest i through on over my jersey to help keep warm. was 60 overall for T1 time. What would you do differently?: would zip the vest so next time. Bike
Comments: the last hill was quite a challenge but i stayed in the saddle the whole time. used a lot of my legs up there What would you do differently?: need to do more hills in training. Transition 2
Comments: took a little bit of time. i really had to pee by this point. put my hair up and walked about 10 yards before taking on of the run. was 26 overall on time for T2 What would you do differently?: try to go a little faster Run
Comments: as i really had to pee, that was on my mind a lot :) with each step actually. there were five pretty good hills with the last being the hardest. i found a gal who was going my pace and followed her. we actually switched places off and on. i seemed to pass on the hills and she'd pass on the downhill. i had to walk a couple of times as i was trying to keep tabs on my hamstring which was feeling very tired. hit a good spot when i turned the corner onto 308th. i wish they marked how far we come/had left. it would have helped. i was passed my like 8 in my age group the last 1/4 mile. ugh! What would you do differently?: try to not walk and train more hilss Post race
Warm down: moved around, got more water. found my family. and the bathroom. got chilled after i removed clohtes to go to the bathroom. i should ahve stretched more. Event comments: the post race raffle was fun. we stuck around until the very last gal came across. she'd recently had a stroke and was blind. it was fun.there were lots of volunteers cheering us on and calling us my name when they could see it on our bibs. the police presence was very nice. the only downtime i had was losing my two year old for five minutes. PANIC! but a nice policeman found her and we were reunited. I felt like i'd done a great accomplishment and our my friends and family were so pround. we headed to Panaera post race to grab food as i was hungry! Last updated: 2008-06-10 12:00 AM

Since this was my first tri, didn't have much of a routine. I woke up at 5:20 and got dressed and loaded up my bike. Drank a bottle of water with a Nuun for some early energy. Got to the event site and got set up in transition. Had extra time so i made sure to go to the bathroom and was in line before it got too long. walked down to make sure i knew where the swim in/outs were.
It was sooo cold. I wish i would have brought my jacket that i left in transition while i had to wait the hour for my wave. i had my wetsuit half on. Finally put my arms in and that helped. when i went down to the water it actually felt somewhat warm on my feet. swam a few laps to get warmed up. once the water trickeld into my wetsuit and it warmed up. i was feeling good. I am so glad i had a long sleeved wetsuit!
