Pre-race routine:

Race was only 20 min from the house - got to sleep in!
Event warmup:

I was in the last heat, so I had an hour to watch others swim. I sat, watched and stretched.

Comments:

I normally go way outside and stay out of the pack. This time I got on the inside and right in the fray. This worked out fine; only a few bumps. Much better job of hugging the inside line.

I ran as fast as I could on that day. I even felt a twinge in my left leg on one of the downhills that scared me.

Work on hill repeats, intervals, speedwork.

Warm down:

walked around, stretched....free smoothies were GREAT! Pancake breakfast was free - who wants a heavy pancake breakfast after a workout?

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't train for this short distance race at all. It was a nice change though.

Event comments:

This is a well run, fun, small race. I liked the feel - it seemed there were a lot more beginners who were happy to be racing and less of the veterans who were super serious about the race.
