Pre-race routine:

Tried to get the race early. Help my buddy set his transition area up. There is always stuff to do and when you're doing Cherpa duty, need to plan for double time. Got a good little run, checked out the bike, left the shoes clipped in, got the wetsuit on.
Event warmup:

Good nutrition plan - whole wheat waffle with peanut butter, banana, small cup of coffee, HEED
Swim
  • 11m 11s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt pretty good on the swim - Navigation wasn't very good. I need to work on getting out in front and using others to sight off of.
What would you do differently?:

Ditto
Transition 1
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

cut my toes on a rock or something during T1
What would you do differently?:

Keep running
Bike
  • 1h 02m 49s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 23.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike. Pressed hard - Mentally was the battle to not take it easy, especially when all alone and not by anyone. But lucked out and got in a draft legal pack of three guys who kept pushing the pace. i just kept telling myself to not let them go and when I got in front of them I just tried to drop them without smashing threshold too much
What would you do differently?:

Monitor my heart rate a little better and hit it a little harder. I think I might have had at least another couple watts in me.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Had tough time racking bike with wierd bike racks.
What would you do differently?:

not fix bike, just set it up and go
Run
  • 37m 10s
  • 6 miles
  • 06m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Tried to float the first mile - Got passed by David Yoder at mile 2 and decided to jump on his coat tails and stick to him. Kept looking forward trying to pick off as many people as I could. I got passed twice but passed at least 10 people
What would you do differently?:

go harder - had a bunch in the tank at the end. Felt really really strong. Race the clock - blow threshold away with 2 miles left. I caught AG leader at 4.5 miles and hung on his back and recovered until 5 mile point and then passed him decisively and left him in the dust. Should have just gone right by no need to recover just for a piece of bling. Race the clock!
Post race
Warm down:

Ran back to find Prozac, Nordo, Travis, and Heather. Ran with heather for her last 1.5 - 2 miles

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I don't know if I was tapered but I felt really strong

Event comments:

I love this race. Wish I wasn't moving I'd always do this race
