Pre-race routine:

Ate some oatmeal at 6AM. Got nick and I into the BlueMobile and drove to the race. I was almost late! The only thing I forgot was a race belt.
It was actually better getting there later so I didn't have to stew.
Event warmup:

Swam 100m 50 out and back. Some Rodney Dangerfield Caddyshack stretches and I was ready.
Swim
  • 11m 34s
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was taking it easy, keeping good form. I drafted later in the swim as there were a cunch of my herd are cruddy swimmers. Get that chub moving clydes!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Next year I'll blow it out for sprint year 2009.
Transition 1
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Pulled my goggles off to soon and I lost 10 seconds looking for my bike. Dumb.
What would you do differently?:

Keep goggles on. Get lasic.
Bike
  • 37m 58s
  • 11.8 miles
  • 18.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Two big run sessions and one 1.5 five bike for IMFL on the three days prior and I still did 18mph which is fair for me. NExt year I need to do 21-22 if I want to place in Clydesdale (I need to eat more!).
What would you do differently?:

Taper if this was going to be an "A" race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Wrong lane, lost another ten seconds. Had trouble with socks. If I'm doing sprintatholon 2009 I'll need to work on no socks.
What would you do differently?:

No socks. Get the correcxt lane.
Run
  • 28m 48s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

The hills hurt a bit after zero tapering this week. I need to do more hills. I'm going to get absolutely killed in age group if I drop below 200.
What would you do differently?:

More hills! Taper
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around some. Ate some oranges. Stretched. Played with Nick. Talked with friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

"C" race-itis. No tapering. Not enough hill training.

Event comments:

I'll be back. If I way over 200 next year, I can place in Clydes.
