Run
Comments: Super fun but very challenging. It just seemed to go on and on. Felt pretty good but about halfway through I did get a side stitch for a few minutes so really worked to get it out and eventually it went away. What would you do differently?: We pre-ran the course the Sunday before but weren't able to run the route because we kept getting confused where to go. It definitely helped though to know what to be aware of when trail running(rolling your ankles). It gave me confidence on race day. I would love to get into trail running but I am hesitant to do so for the same reason I've stopped mountain biking. I don't like the idea of having to drive somewhere for a run. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for a few minutes, stretched, and talked with Brian while waiting for Campbell to come in and finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience with running on trails. Event comments: Although there were only four guys in our age group, this was my first placement in a race which is really exciting! Since Brian got 3rd overall, Campbell and I both placed in the age group so we all left with medals. It was a great Saturday morning and I definitely look forward to racing more XTERRA races next season. Last updated: 2008-08-02 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6:15 and had some Wheaties and ate a clif bar on the way to the race site.
About 20 minutes before the race started we ran for about 10 minutes to try and warm up our legs since it was so stinking cold before the race started.
