Run
Comments: There was seven of us Donks doing the 15k. Tripletmom and DjDavey headed out front, because they were going to go fast (and they did). I headed out with Jszat, Yams, Sgoener and RaytownPete. As we headed out, I found myself in a spot I never will again: in front of Yams. Too bad it was in the first 300 feet. We weaved our way through the crowd in the first mile with lots of comments and laughs. Jszat and Yams pulled ahead as I saw Joe's viking horns fade off in the distance. Scott, Pete and myself stuck together until about mile 8. Good company. Wearing a costume seems like a great idea at mile one, by mile four it is not as much fun, by mile 8, I wanted to tear off my wig and throw it in Lake Michigan. In the end though we made people laugh and enjoy their run a little more and that is a good thing. Finished with a 7 minute PR (without costume last year) and was really thirsty. Headed in to Ale House to have a beer with my friends. What would you do differently?: If I was really going to race, I wouldn't wear a costume, but what fun would that be? Post race
Warm down: find the free beer What limited your ability to perform faster: Costume and a bit of a tight hammie. Event comments: This race is a blast. Can't wait until next year. Last updated: 2008-09-16 12:00 AM

On my lunch hour on friday, went to find a costume. That was tough. Pregnant nun. no Sperm man. no Seymore Bush, Gyno costume. no. Anything with a giant mask. no. Settled on variation of mad scientist. Dr. Donkyl/Mr. Donk Hyde. Up about 6:30 and my 8 year old helped me get my costume ready. Headed downtown. At registration everybody looked so serious and many huddled inside the building. Lots of strange looks. Come on people lighten up a little! Went outside and found the costumed donkey crowd. I had my favorites, but everybody looked great.
not really.
