Pre-race routine:

Had a pbj and a mnt dew and drove the 90 minutes- ugh. On the drive up to GB I realized I forgot my arm warmers. Turns out it was another awesome day and I was glad I dint have them on. Saw J_Cow and his crew. Saw my freind Bob who asked me how cool I really thought I was in that IM jersey...(pretty cool- I think) and if the headband was to keep my head from exploding..damn Id like to kick that guys ass today :)
I was REALLY tired because Kaitlyn had been up all night coughingthe pat few nights- not cool.
I lucked out and got major rockstar transiton...end spot on the rack right next to bike in/out.
Event warmup:

Rode probaly less then a mile...just to make sure my bike was all good- it was.

Comments:

This is probaly the best pace Ive had in a 5K...sub 7s- gotta love it. This was OK feeling... and it was good knowing this would be the toughest part of the day.
What would you do differently?:

nothing... I dont know if I can go much faster?
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Good thing I had a good spot cuz I had a crappy transition- I unracked my bike and still had on my run shoes- duh.
What would you do differently?:

I used to have great transitions.. I dont know

21 mph baby :) I have been waiting for that. The actual results have me at 21.7.... even better- so maybe the course was little long. I LOVE to ride lately... my bike and I were not such good pals during IM traiing but now.... things are good. I felt strong and fast the whole way. Finally at like mile 25ish Bob caught me... he was 2 waves behind me. Oh well... we hung togther the rest of the way in. That was good- I am so used to riding with him that it just kind of chilled me out a little.
Fun ride for sure. I could tell the lat run was gonna suck- but hey only a mile- as long as I can do it in under 8 min...all is good.
I REALLY wanted to break 2 hours for the race and knew I could do it- awesome feeling.
What would you do differently?:

nothing at all. Thats all the juice these legs have
Transition 2

Comments:

uuuuhhhh.... nothing to say.. I really need to get my feet out of my shoes while Im still riding. Im just not really the most uuh... graceful person in the world ;)

Comments:

legs felt like crap- but I knew they would..a soon as they felt better we had like 200 yards to go- oh well. Not very impressive.
What would you do differently?:

run it about a minute faster??
Post race
Warm down:

got my results and saw I was 1st place AG and 2cnd overall female. The best part was seeing my bike split was 1:30. HOT DAMN!!!! 5 minutes faster then last year. Too bad the winning female was like 10 minutes faster then me... she was from Iowa too.... yeesh- stay in your own state next time ;)
Yucky post race food- eeww...like rice and beans mush.

Event comments:
