Pre-race routine:

Got up early because I could not sleep. Had to set up T2 and deal with hotel check out time. Then hoof it to remote parking lot to pick up shuttle bus to lake start. Took bike out to check gearing and tires, stretch, put on wet sit, take a warm up swim. All told a three and a half hour window in pretty chilly air temperatures.

Comments:

Swim time includes time required to take off wet suit prior to going to T1 and crossing the timing line. So the time is inflated a bit. I had a little difficulty with my suit zipper which slowed me down some. Otherwise it was a pretty comfortable swim for me. I felt good the entire time and had an easy time with navigation, even though I strayed a bit. Teaching myself to breathe out of both sides helped me with navigation and breathing rate. No trouble with other swimmers either.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps just push the pace a little more. I am getting more and more comfortable in the open water and feeling more confident.

Overall swim rating average due to difficulties with suit removal.

Comments:

Here the T1 time is lower because the suit was removed before reaching T1. Forgot to remove goggles so I rode with those around my neck.

Take a moment to slip on long sleeve top for warmth.

A decent ride. I was passed by only one rider who pretty much blew me away. Parts of the ride were rather harrowing with the wind gusting so hard. I did not feel comfortable in the aero position during a couple of the decents. Sharing the road at the end with the runners was annoying. I wanted to pass several people to ahead into T2, but there was little room to maneuver.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, but I feel my performance here was average.

The entry to T2 was longer set up strangly and I had a round-about route to the bike rack, but easy access to the exit.

At a couple of points, I thought I was shuffling along at a 15 minute pace. So I suppose I am reasonably happy with the time even though I was shooting for a 7'45' pace. Under the conditions, I won't complain too much. Coming up the last hill I did not feel like I much left in the tank, but I pushed it to the finish line as best as I could. I really wanted to break two hours, even if I did not make last year's time. Run course is harder than previous race course, but the wind may have been a significant factor also.

Event comments:

Shuttles were not as efficient as past years. Need to coordinate with Eagle Ridge Resort so athletes can get special check out arrangements. That is an unnecessary hassle.
