Pre-race routine:

Get up early before the roosters crow. Two bowls of Frosted Flakes, cause they're GREAT! I had a power bar about 45 minutes before beginning of race. Just sipped some Gatorade while waiting around.
Event warmup:

No warm, just some stretching. No point in doing swim warm up because by the time you would start you would be all tight again. So just some stretches and arm swings about 10 mins before start or so.
Swim
  • 06m 35s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

My first pool swim. It was interesting. I used it as my warm up for the bike and run. They didn't really put 5 seconds between each person because there were 3 standing in front of me trying to get in after they had be told to go.
What would you do differently?:

Not much probably a little more bilateral breathing and also might have pushed my pace a little more.
Transition 1
  • 03m 18s
Comments:

Well it wasn't the worst transition ever. I did take my time and made sure I was comfortable going into a nice, wet bike course.I had everything organized and underneath a trash bag to keep dry. To bad once I removed the trash bag, it didn't stay dry for long.
What would you do differently?:

I would of went faster.I would of pick up my pace in it but because it was wet, I want to make sure I was comfortable
Bike
  • 30m 7s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.92 mile/hr
Comments:

I can't wait to pick up my new bike I ordered. I know I can be much faster, but it's time to upgrade from the 28 year Raleigh I have been using.
What would you do differently?:

Once I get my new bike, use it. Also I would work on consist pedal and no freewheeling.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Well, this was a downfall. A person realized they were putting their bike on the wrong rack. When they tried to remove their bike they made the rack fall over. I must say one thing, the volunteers came over quickly and fixed it but it cost me about 30 seconds or so.
What would you do differently?:

Not have some dumba@# knock over the rack for the bikes. Other wise it would of been a great transition.
Run
  • 22m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

One of the best runs I had. I felt great going into the first mile. Had a 7:15 for the first mile and just keep cruising from there. I haven't felt this great on a run ever in one of my triathlons so I am happy.
What would you do differently?:

Need to use some quick laces instead of tying shoes, it slows you down.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink water and go be the first one to get some good food to eat. When I finally went to get my stuff from transition, The bike next to mine was laying on top of instead of being racked properly. That always frustrates me a little. It is just a common courtesy to properly rack your bike. Also I hate when you put your gear down nicely on the spot where you laid it out and your not taking up a lot of room, but some how someone still manages to kick your gear around. Stupid a@#holes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The rain had an impact. Also I need to upgrade my bike and get my tri-suit so I don't have to worry about putting clothes on or anything. Oh I also should get a balloon. I enjoy looking for my balloon in the transition and it also makes it easier to find you stuff.

Event comments:

Tons of volunteers, course is alright for new people, could always be much worse but overall it was enjoyable
