Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 11/34
Pre-race routine:

Woke up @ 5:45, drank some water, had a NutriGrain bar, dressed and went to the park.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 09m 28s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Thought the water was kinda icky. Overall easy sighting, easy swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

Oy. Could not get wetsuit over timing chip. Sat down and finally got it done.
What would you do differently?:

Don't yet know secret to efficient wetsuit removal.
Bike
  • 34m 19s
  • 9.94 miles
  • 17.38 mile/hr
Comments:

The "this is a flat course" isn't quite true, imho,(tho largely flat, but not flat like Sylvania) but maybe my legs were tired from my little 4-hr bonanza Friday :-)

Road was a bit dodgy in places and did fear a flat as I need new tires.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I pulled back and did try to slow down, keeping in mind this was a dress rehearsal for me and kept thinking, about what will I be doing in 2 weeks for Boise.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Thought I did better than average in T2 and would get below a minute but apparently not....
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Maybe do helmet removal as coming into T2....
Run
  • 31m 42s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Oy, my hip flared up out the gate. The first mile felt like a long mile and I thought "gee I hate running." Fine time to feel like that 2 wks b/4 a 1/2 mary. But again, I'm probably just overall spent from a heavy training week.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Probably would perform better if not so tired. Based on my AG rank, I can definitely see the run is the weak link in my arsenal :-)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, talked to BT peeps. Great day overall. Weather beautiful.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Once again, running 2 hours and biking 4 hours, 4 & 2 days before race. +Tired overall. I was very happy with my performance. I went out about
70-80%.

Event comments:

This is a great little race, and a good beginner race. Fit the bill for my "practice" run before Boise 70.3. They had TONS of volunteers. All in all this is really one I highly recommend. Kudos to the race organizers. No wonder folks keep coming back!
