Total Time = 1h 55m 23s
Overall Rank = 320/341
Age Group = 35-59
Age Group Rank = 18/19
Pre-race routine:

Big yummy meal with MAV + Al the night before. Woke-up and choked down a bagel with pb + honey, coffee and water.

warm-up was impossible

overheard on the walk to the transition area:
"Mommy, look at the big waves!! :)"
ya - real funny kid
Event warmup:

Wandered around wondering about the swim buoys...
Swim
  • 06m 44s
  • 220 yards
  • 03m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

I did gorilla swimming for the first 80%. I couldn't find clear water to put my head in which was SO frustrating! My group seemed confident and strong so i stayed up close to the front in the start but then all hell broke loose and the washing machine effect took hold and i couldn't get out!!!
What would you do differently?:

lesson learned and need to work on SPRINTING from the front of the pack.
Transition 1
  • 03m 29s
Comments:

the swim sucked the life out of me because i was a barge not a flying fish so it took a while for my heart to chill out.
What would you do differently?:

nothing... i'm good at this part :)
Bike
  • 1h 09m 57s
  • 15 miles
  • 12.87 mile/hr
Comments:

this is where the lack of training really became evident.
But i did pee on the bike :) only because the start was so delayed and my schedule was way off!!
What would you do differently?:

try to not let life get in the way ;)
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

very happy with this - no issues
Run
  • 33m 54s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

I was just so happy to be off the bike but i still had to pee so this sucked just as bad as the bike!!!
i walked the water stops and the crazy hill before the causeway.

I'm glad i wasn't dead-last overall or in my age group :)
I did have a great time!!
What would you do differently?:

i was happy to see that my pace was not too shabby... of course i want to be faster but with the lack of preparation i'll take 11 m/m.
Post race
Warm down:

packed up and off to DISNEY WORLD.
i don't recommmed this - it's 4 days later and i'm still pooped!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training - but having a job is more important.... right?

Event comments:

Max does an awesome job - mother nature on the other hand....not so much on this day ;)
See ya next year!
