  • Comments: This was my third triathlon and worst yet. Something was just not right. Still trying to figure it out. I felt sluggish. I was never really breathing very hard...I just could not go. I need to learn more about pushing myself. I could have pushed a lot harder on the bike especially if I was going to walk half the run anyway. Maybe the swim took more out of me than I think? Maybe it was just a bad day. I did have a terrible long run the week before. I really need more training volume but having three small kids it is hard. I do not want to sacrifice time with them...I would rather finish at the BOP.

  • Comments: This was a PR for me at this distance! I improved over last year's time by 14 minutes. Really pleased with overall accomplishment. I also met a goal to finish in the top half of my group which I did do. A little side note here that of all Clydesdales I was the oldest and only 40something. This race is a mainstay on my calendar.

  • Comments: This was my first Olympic last year and I loved it then. I love it now too. I think that Gamultisports puts on some great races. Everything was organized and on time. Volunteer and spectator support was terrific for this race size. Age group award was a hat with the West Point Lake symbol embroidered on the front and your place on the back that can be worn during races. I'm pleased with my race results as well. I managed to take 10 minutes off of this same race from just a year ago. The competition was fierce and I think that this race is just going to get bigger and bigger. Last year, my 2:40:xx was enough to capture 3rd in Age Group - now a 2:30:xx got me 3rd. I can't wait to see where this race goes. Hopefully, i'll be able fit it into my schedule for years to come.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The volunteers were awesome, of course. And the number and locations of aid/water stations on the run course were perfect. The bike course was well marked. The swim course could have been better. Apparently yesterday's weather (intermittent rain) hindered a better setup??? I wasn't able to see the buoys until I was approaching the first right turn. And then, on the way back, there were two (I think) sections where we were supposed to swim in about 2' of water. Several people just got up and walked. I just stayed horizontal and pushed off the bottom of the lake. And I was dissappointed to not get a massage. I guess I'll just have to finish faster next time so I can sign up higher on the list. The award ceremony was kind of sad...they did it in the middle of a field and the announcer didn't have any amplification. Still, a good and well organized race. And though I was dissappointed with my performance, I feel like it was a great accomplishment. I learned

  • Comments: Well, I learned a lot about racing this time. I learned more about my ability to push myself. I'm a good swimmer, OK cyclist and a lousy runner. I need to be more systematic about my training and more patient. In a few days I'll be satisfied with my performance. I should have realized that the Oly folks would be a bit more fit and that this would be a greater challenge. I can do this distance. I can do a HIM if I put in the work. I'm ready to do it.
