  • Comments: Bring Marker and do it yourself, Put fluids on Bike day/night prior just bring nutrition and pump, DEFINITELY stretch afterwards, get new batteries in cyclometer (if that is plan) during the taper NOT THE Day prior. Use lotion sunscreen water proof prior to swim and then spray before getting to bike rack. still faster then letting someone put it on and if needed just cutt out spray as lotion is on. Definitely ride hard portions to get knowledge and confirm route on Thursday before race and then also RIDE IT HARD get a hard workout meaning if I need to ride one hard portion and then again and then pack up and ride the next then so be it. ALWAYS TRAIN INVENTORYING BODY AS FAR AS HOW THE NUTRITION IS WORKING WHETHER I AM TIGHT TOO SOON ON BIKE AND ANY ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED (IE PACKAGE DIFFERENT POSITION DUE TO PAIN OR STARTING TO FEEL CHAFFING) NOT A VIRGIN ANYMORE

  • Comments: The swim was about as good it will get. My start position was perfect and strategy worked well. I will make some minor changes in my workouts this winter to have more of a technical focus. I will not change much in regard to my bike prep or race strategy. Easy to Osoyoos, pick it up over Richter and the Sisters, maintain on the flat and out and back and complete Yellow Lake strongly. The only thing I will add this year is more running off the bike and try and do some slightly shorter rides followed by longer runs – 3 to 4 hours bike and then 1:30 to 2 hours run. The run was a struggle due to nutrition and hydration problems. I believe things would have been quite different if I was not woken at midnight with GI problems. These continued through the bike and ½ the run and resulted in hydration and electrolyte problems. Taper. I followed a three week taper at the advice of a number of friends. Next year I will not reduce things as quickly week 1 and week 2 and increase tempo during

  • Comments: The best part of this race was that I had personal bests in all three disciplines and that I did not get any cramps during the race. I would like to come back to IMC in 2009 to see if I can have an even faster race. Overall this was one of the most fun race that I have ever done. I was a blast.

  • Comments: I'm pleased with how close I was to my goal time considering the issues I had and how much worse the day could have been. Fantastic race, the IronCrew were AMAZING and the crowds rocked! Definitely worth the camp-out in line fiasco!

  • Comments: I want to give a big thanks to my better half. Bellinghammaria, walking back and forth from the hotel to the race venue with two dogs, not knowing and not having any way of finding out what is going on with me during the day. Windy and cool weather. But it all worked out. She is so supportive and puts up with all this hobby of mine. This was the 25th anniversary edition of a great IRONMAN Race. I got to be a part of something very special. I didn't have the same excited shivers/goosebumps down my back feeling like the IMCDA finish of last year. But I am misty about bettering my time by an 1:15 minutes. More than I imagined I could do. IMC is a must do for any Ironman competitor.

  • Comments: I’m almost in disbelief that I managed a 56minute swim. I would have been happy with a 59…56 wasn’t even thought of. Especially given the choppy day on Okanagan Lake. I started on the far left and took it out hard. After about 400meters I started cutting over to the main group and just tucked myself in. I was finally comfortable enough in the water to use a little bit of aggression and get the feet I wanted. After rounding the second turn and starting the long return leg home I felt the need to pass a couple people and started to weave my way through. It was a good plan and almost fell off my feet when I saw the clock at 56minutes. What a way to start a day. It was so nice being with a group of cyclists that I actually wanted to be around. Rather than having to play catch up I was able to chill out all the way to Richter Pass. I didn’t over exert myself for those first 60km and I knew it would come back in my favor later in the day. I focused on taking in some solid food and planning
