  • Comments: Very well organized. So many volunteers. All the folks handing out water were cheering the runners. Not a ton of spectators, but those who were out there were vocal and very supportive. And finally - perspective. The local paper featured a story today about two men who walked the 10k... one had received the heart of the other's 21-year-old son who died last year. I am just thankful for my sore knees and healthy body, as well as humbled by these two guys who have faced some of the worst things imaginable, and yet come together on a sunny Saturday afternoon for a walk.. and to give something back.

  • Comments: This is a great race that the community really comes together to help out with. It's for a great cause and the volunteers there are so great and helpful! The course is a difficult one, but once you finish it you have a sense of accomplishment. I would recommend anyone who wants a challenging 15K to do this one!

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Lots of things went wrong with this race (me being sick the previous week, stomach issues (Penn Station probably wasn't the best lunch choice yesterday) , and heck even my shoe came untied before I hit the first mile marker. I guess it is good I finished, and thinking back, when I did my first 5K ever I had to stop and walk for a bit, the same thing happened with my first ever 10K. So I was just following the pattern and had to stop and walk a bit for my first 15K. I think I learned some things that I can use for next year's race (drink more! If you have to go, go!). Time to switch focus to summer triathlons. I think I'll stick with sprint races. Also, I think I need to start running up that hill at the other end of the Kaufmann bike trail. Training in the flatlands of Dayton, OH isn't doing me any good when I head down to the rolling hills of Cincinnati.
