  • Comments: I'm ambivalent about this race, but it's personal. I'm not fond of this course or this particular race organization, but that's just me. They did well to salvage something out of a bad situation (weather) today.

  • Comments: I now know what to expect. This was my first triathlon. I will definetly race another one or two before the end of July. I feel like to train a little longer before my next attempt. Overall, I had fun and learned some good lessons.

  • Comments: Nothing to compare it to, so I can't really rate it. It wasn't on time due to weather, so no complaints there. I would like to see more fluid stations on the run if I were to do it next year. Overall, it was a great first triathlon!

  • Comments: I don't have anything to compare to, but I thought the race was run well and very organized. I wish they would have had water in coolers to fill up my bike bottle before the race, but I couldn't find anything except Gatorade. The after-race baked potatos was a nice extra. No complaints at all about the race and the way it was run. I will definitely be back next year.

  • Comments: Upon arriving in the morning there was a dense fog that had settled in. This was out of the directors hands and USAT did not want to start with that heavy fog so we spent a lot of time talking and hanging out waiting for them to call the race. My target was to finish in less than an hour and forty-five. I did that and I can be happy with my overall performance. It is when I break down the individual elements that I realize where I went wrong. My swim is something that I need to improve on and move on from it. I am concerned that I won't be able to do better even though I know deep down that I can. I just need to get back into the pool and swim until I get my confidence back. All in all I beat my projected time and still had fuel left over. I will do better on my next race and I will finish harder.

  • Comments: It was a nice race. I was just excited that I completed my initial goal of just doing a triathlon. I didn't go full out at any point because really I was trying to run all this at a pace that I could do my quarter ironman in. I felt good after the bike, I do feel like I could have done it again. The swimming, had I been able to get into my zone and out of my head I think would have been fine to do 3 times. The run i am a little worried about, if only because it will be after the others. However I kept a pace that I do think I could have kept for another 3 miles or so. So considering that this was my first tri and I didn't go all out, I'm really happy with the way everything turned out. I want to do the Irongirl in July. I think I will have recovered enough to really see what I can do if I push myself a little more :-D. Before my race I had tried to estimate my time, so I guessed around 1 hour 45 minutes. I was right on, 1 hour 44 minutes and 57 seconds! I'm a TRIATHLETE!!!

  • Comments: even though just about all my answers were bad i don't think it was a bad race. there just wasn't enough of anything. the only cops were at turns, i would have liked to see some officers on the freeway to keep us from getting hit by cars. as soon as i crossed the finish line i was looking for my ice cold towel and they didn't have them. so i went off looking for pizza and beer, was none. there were lots of oranges though and i tore into them. i was ravenous. we had to wait for baked potatos to be set up and ready. i'm used to more drink stations too, there were not as many. as far as the course being too hard, thats not because there was something wrong with the course, it was that i just wasn't ready for it.

  • Comments: I'm so excited to be able to say I am now a TRIATHLETE! I can't even begin to express how excited I am about this race. One month ago, my goal was just to finish. Last week, I knew I would finish, and set a goal of 1:35:00. I absolutely smashed my goal. I can't wait for the next race, although my body is telling me to wait right now. Swim was rough, bike was above average, run was great. I still can't believe how fast I was running. Maybe they had a mistake with their timers :) Race was delayed due to fog. Can't complain about weather, since we have no control. Good race for a small town effort.

  • Comments: Honestly, for it being the 22nd year of this race's existence, both my boyfriend and I were surprised at how "thrown together" it seemed. In a few spots along the course there could DEFINITELY have been more volunteers to help guide the way. I guess overall it was a successful event, and that's really all you can ask. The only reason we started late was due to fog outside that would have limited visibility on the bike course, so that's no fault of any of the race organizers.
