  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: First HFP race which proved to be nice enough but nothing real special. I've done better and worse. Course is nice and ripe for hammering with virtually no elevation gain, and the price was right for signing up three days beforehand. Distances seemed to be accurate. Not much for after race grub besides some fruit and water. Letting people retrieve equipment from sprint races while folks were still coming in from the Oly seemed like a pain. HFP's supposed security for the bikes was a joke, we all wore arm bands that matched bands on our bikes, no one looked at either mine or my wifes and any one could walk in and out of transition.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: I got exactly the race I deserved for my choices. I'm OK with that in the larger sense even though I'm not happy with my performance. This isn't whining, it's self-criticism, which I need to do in order to not make the same mistakes. I knew things were going wrong the week before the race. I couldn't sleep and my base HR was way up, but I decided to push through anyway. By Wednesday I was fatigued to the point where I quit on a group ride, and every run was spiritless. I just didn't want to be out there. I've done three races in three weeks -- an Oly-ish distance KBR, a sprint, and this Oly -- and I think it was too much for my experience level. The last sprint was great, but I should have waited a bit before the next race. I exceeded my physical and tolerance, and cut back on running time to recover, which was probably the worst choice. I probably could have pushed harder physically, but I was past caring. I suppose it's a refreshing change to reach my mental limits before

  • Comments: I was asked to do the race about a week beforehand. I wasnt expecting to do the race but I have a pretty good base of training in so I can do them without much taper or training. I do need to get more serious bike time in before my favorite race (Sylvania) and the Rev3 HIM. Cant complain though because I set a bike and overall PR. I am feeling confident I can bust 2:30 by the end of year. Howdy to all the Bt'ers present and I cordially invite you to try to Sylvania Triathlon as that is my hometown race. You can even see my high school and I can show you my first girlfriends house - I know you cant wait.
