  • Description: The St. Joseph Island Triathlon is Northern Ontario’s premier multisport event! Since the first race in August 2004, the event has grown steadily to include over 450 competitors, 150 volunteers, and close to 1000 spectators. It features Olympic/International distance triathlon and duathlon, Sprint distance tri/du, Try-a-Tri, and 5 Kids of Steel age categories, as well as relay categories for all adult races. The event has featured athletes from as far away as British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Illinois, and is the most popular amateur racing event in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The event takes place in the community of Richard’s Landing, on beautiful St. Joseph Island. The swim takes place in Richard’s Landing in the clean, warm water of Lake Huron’s North Channel. The bike meanders through the rolling farmlands of St. Joseph Island on smooth, fast roads. The run travels through the heart of Richard’s Landing and out on to quiet cottage roads, finishing up near transition at the heart of the event.
