  • Description: The Earth Day Triathlon will take place Saturday, April 19, as follows:

    9:00 a.m. Early start for participants who think they need extra time to complete the course.

    9:30 a.m. Pre-race briefing in high school foyer. Course routes will be described, safety concerns addressed, questions answered.

    10 a.m. The first heat begins in the swimming pool; this heat will be for individual men and women. 12 swimmers will be in the pool at one time—two swimmers per lane.

    10:30 a.m. Second heat for individual men and women and first heat for teams begins.

    11 a.m. Second heat for teams will be held.

    11:30 a.m. Third heat for teams will be held. (NOTE: Heat arrangement could change depending upon enrollment.)

    2 p.m. All competitors should have crossed bike finish.

    3 p.m. Awards presentation at the Teen Center, to distribute results and award ribbons.

    All divisions begin at the swimming pool and end at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The swim is 22 laps (1-K). The run is 3.1 miles (5-K), and goes from the pool to East Elementary and back. The bike is 12.4 miles (20-K) from the pool to Pillar Creek and back to the finish at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

    Divisions are as follows:

    1.) Open mixed team

    2.) Youth team (all members 18 years old and under)

    3.) Individual Men’s 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40 & over.

    4.) Individual Women’s 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40 & over.

    Registration deadline was 5 p.m. Thursday, April 17. No registrations will be taken the day of the event.
