  • Description: Race Format:
Participants begin with a 750 meter swim, then do one lap of the bike (4 miles), do a two-mile run, another lap of the bike course, and finish with a one-mile run. Participants will only swim one time at the start of the race.

    Course Description:

    Swim:
The Surf & Turf Super Sprint Triathlon opens up with a 750 meter ocean swim. The water temperature in late May is normally in the mid-70s making this a wetsuit legal swim, but very comfortable if a participant elects not to wear a wetsuit. Participants will swim either north-to-south, or south-to-north depending on the current. The swim will be with the current and the decision will be made on race morning. Either way, participants will only go about 150 meters out - before swimming parallel with the shore.

    Bike:
The bike course is done twice on two separate occasions. Each time participants head 2 miles down Shore Dr. and back. Shore Dr. is closed to vehicular traffic. The course is straight and flat. One direction of the bike course - usually the south to north leg will be a lot faster due to the wind that is always blowing.

    Run:
Like the bike - the run portion of this race is done twice. The first run is a 2-mile out & back course that takes participants north from the transition area (the bike course goes south). A portion of the first run course is on the beach - about 500 yards going out and 500 yards coming back. Other than the short section where participants are running up the stairs off the beach - the run is flat. The second run - 1 mile in length is totally on pavement and totally flat.
