Pre-race routine:

Just had a cup of coffee, bowl of honey nut cheerios, then some water and a GU right before the race. It was pretty chilly so I was dropped off at the start line 15 minutes before so I didn't have to hang out tooo long!
Event warmup:

Yeah - I'm thankful to run more than 4 miles so no warmup for me :)

Comments:

I had difficulties with my new Polar RS200SD and was wanting to track my pace and HR, but couldn't get it to display what I had used in training. So I mainly just focused on HR! I had originally planned a walk break at every mile but felt great so just took a break at the port-a-potties!

Our team's time overall time for the half was 2:22:53 for an overall pace of 11:10/mile. Leslie did for her part with a 10:16 mile pace for her 6.4 portion which isn't accounting for the chip handover time.
What would you do differently?:

Play more with my new gadget before the day of the race so I get the info I want!! Also I wish beyond all hope that I wasn't the type of girl who has to pee ALL THE TIME! I think it's more nervousness than anything and I wonder how much faster I would have done had I not had to wait at the stops which had only 4 johns for a race of several thousand.
Post race
Warm down:

I was freezing when it was over, so I walked three blocks to my boyfriend's house, grabbed some water, Reese's Pieces and coffee, and then hung out to cheer people on (he had a station for the Hot Legs running club at mile 7). After the last walker had gone by with the police escort, I went inside and stretched out my legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing really. Just got back into running so I was pleased with how I did!

Event comments:

I thought this was a well organized race overall. The expo wasn't huge but there was enough to look at. The course goes through several interesting areas of Little Rock, though the full marathoners rightfully groan about some of the hills from miles 17 and on. There were nice pockets of crowd support and the volunteers did a good job of manning hydration stations. I just wish that the porta-potty stops had more than 4 units each!! With a race this large there were ridiculously long lines at every one of them.

I thought the weather was perfect - I like it cool when I run - and the energy among the race participant was upbeat and positive. Of course the big-ass medals (world's largest per Runner's World) are the best part. I was having complete medal envy of the full mary runners who have the spinning whirly-gigs on top complete with faux diamond. Yeah - next year I'll have to get me one of those.

I didn't really check out the post race action so can't comment.

Course: I did the first half of the half-marathon relay which was almost completely flat!! The race started in downtown Little Rock then immediately over the Arkansas River to North Little Rock, a little stroll through NLR, back across the bridge, past the Clinton Presidential Library and then relay exchange at the Arkansas Arts Center.
