  • Comments: Had a great time. Left Little Rock and drove to DeGray Lake Resort to spend Sunday night. Got up early Monday morning, drove to Hot Springs for a soak and massage which seems to have helped limit the soreness. Enjoyed Memphis a little more - had more entertainment en route.

  • Comments: First of all I must say that I really thought this was a well done race. It was my first half, so keep in mind that I don't have anything to compare it to. Expo I thought that the Expo was pretty lame. It was my first racing event with an Expo, but I have attended many professional events that do have Expos associated with them. I really feel that this was much less than I was expecting. Volunteering I volunteered to work the Expo on Saturday at the 13:00-17:00 shift. I was assigned to hand out timing chips. I feel that this was a really good and fun experience. I was glad to be able to contribute something, and it was kind of neat recognizing people during the race that I had handed out chips to. However, there was no one “in charge”. I just got sent to my station, someone left, and was left to fend for myself on figuring out stuff such as person X didn’t have a chip packet. Shockingly enough even though the Expo was open till 18:00 there weren’t any volunteers scheduled

  • Comments: Great race. I look forward to doing it again next year. I will more than likely do the Half or Full Marathon next time. I think I got a cold now.

  • Comments: I thought this was a well organized race overall. The expo wasn't huge but there was enough to look at. The course goes through several interesting areas of Little Rock, though the full marathoners rightfully groan about some of the hills from miles 17 and on. There were nice pockets of crowd support and the volunteers did a good job of manning hydration stations. I just wish that the porta-potty stops had more than 4 units each!! With a race this large there were ridiculously long lines at every one of them. I thought the weather was perfect - I like it cool when I run - and the energy among the race participant was upbeat and positive. Of course the big-ass medals (world's largest per Runner's World) are the best part. I was having complete medal envy of the full mary runners who have the spinning whirly-gigs on top complete with faux diamond. Yeah - next year I'll have to get me one of those. I didn't really check out the post race action so can't comment.
