Overall Rank = 263/973
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 28/88
Pre-race routine:

Showed up late and had to sit in traffic to enter the base. I have to remember to show up early to avoid the bottleneck of entering the naval base.
Event warmup:

Barely had time to set up my transition station, let alone warm-up.
Swim
  • 15m 5s
  • 500 yards
  • 03m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

I really enjoyed the swim. The ocean was a little rough but not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster. I kind of relaxed halfway through the swim because there was no one around and I just enjoyed being out there.
Transition 1
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Decided to put shoes on first and then run with bike...bad idea.
What would you do differently?:

Have shoes clipped in first. That's what I get for showing up late to set up my bike.
Bike
  • 57m 31s
  • 18.64 miles
  • 19.44 mile/hr
Comments:

It was an open course but I only remember a couple of cars that passed, so it wasn't a big worry.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Run
  • 25m 35s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

The uphill out of the transition was tough and I never really recovered from it. I thought the run was an out and back but it just kept winding through the base. It killed me mentally.
What would you do differently?:

Know that the course was windy so I wouldn't think I was halfway done at the first turn-around. I would also run faster...that always works.
Post race
Warm down:

They had a station that gave out orange slices and bananas along with some water. Walked all the way back to the transition station and grabbed my gear and took off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Knowledge of the course.

Event comments:

I enjoyed the race. The soldiers were great and it was good to see them on the course. The beach was beautiful and the course wasn't too hard. Just remember to get there early to set your stuff up because it's a long way from your car to the transition station.
