Swim
  • 10m 38s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

Nice calm day on Lake Erie. Really focused on setting a slow pace out front and not getting into problems with hyperventilating like last race. Did much better. I think I should be able to push up the pace as I get more used to OW.
Transition 1
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

10/21 in T1 time
What would you do differently?:

Try leaving shoes on bike and putting on GPS while riding
Bike
  • 40m 17s

Comments:

CRASH! Coming into the first 90 deg turn I eased into the rear brake and Whammo! my rear wheel came out of the stay and locked up! I fishtailed left then right then was launched over the handlebars landing on my back. OUCH! Took me a few minutes to get the wheel dislodged from where it was stuck and then get it back on the bike. Bike and I both with some road rash but no major injuries. Took a little of the starch out of my race however.
What would you do differently?:

Check and Double Check that the wheels are on tight.
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

9/21 Still unsettled after my crash, forgot to take feet out of shoes coming into T2. Pulled shoes out of pedals then almost fell dismounting.
What would you do differently?:

Remember to take feet out of shoes
Run
  • 26m 21s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Right side of back was hurting a bit from the fall. Used metronome and definitely felt better than last Tri. Ran most of run with Darrin Grella who started 4 min after me but caught up to me in T2 after my crash.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around venue waiting for Tara to finish. Stretched a little

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mostly the Crash on the bike
Still need more training in all 3 events and have lots of room for improvement in all 3.

Event comments:

Overall did pretty well but bike crash definitely affected my performance
