Slept well, up at 3:30am, coffee and 1/2 bagel before leaving the hotel

This was the most physical swim I had to do so far--got kidney punched and kicked which knocked the wind out of me, but I am learning to deal with it better.Got stuck behind a few slow polks and I wasn't sure exactly what to do about it, go around them on the outside or inside? Siting was reasonable.
What would you do differently?:

Don't let slow pokes get in my way.

The race lost my transitions and bike splits. How does that happen when I get a run time and final time?

This is the worst T1 ever. My suit was stuck on both feet. I mean like really stuck. Awful.
What would you do differently?:

Cut my suit shorter. This is the third race where my suit wouldn't budge.

This race was to test out my strategy for the September HIM so goal was to moderate the bike to have strength for the run and get my fueling right.

Did the majority of riding in high Z3/low z4. I took one swig of Perpeteum every 10 minutes (this was more of a syrup consistency since I only mixed 270 calories for the shortness of the ride). I had stomach issues coming out of the swim which I chalk up to swallowing air. Was able to still take in calories while dealing with the stomach issues. I started chatting it up with a guy for quite a while, realized I was blowing my HR caps and sent him on his way (but I would see him again). I got passed by quite a few people and it bugged me, but I stuck to the plan and felt good on the bike. Stopped once to refill my front mount with H20. The bike is quickly becoming my favorite part of a triathlon. I was in the aerobars at least 90% of the time

Ingested 250 calories and 36 oz H20.

Per my new protocol, I turned on the GPS and never looked at it again. I realized how hot it was as I headed to the first mile marker. I thought I was creeping, but told myself to keep running at this pace for the first 2m to get “warmed-up”. I made the decision to walk through the water stops, took 2 cups, drank a couple of sips and the rest went down my head. I gave myself no out to keep walking even on the hills. I honestly think that getting rid of the music and getting used to hearing labored breathing on my normal runs was a key factor for today. After those first two miles, I felt a little better, and told myself the bike strategy paid off. That helped me. I passed a couple more people, then a few more and a few more….I didn’t pick up the pace much, but I still felt strong. Eventually met up and passed my bike chatting partner. They ran out of water towards the end so the last 2m were a major Sufferfest for everyone. I felt like I nailed the nutrition—took in no calories on the run even though I had a gel in my pocket. I did have some stomach sloshing.I still had the same GI distress I have been fighting all week and with no bathrooms on the bike or run course, I wasn’t taking any chances. “Sprinted” that last .2m to the finish line.

After looking at my GPS, I realized even though the pace was slow, I was once again running at or slightly above LT.

What would you do differently?:

Maybe try to goose it up the last mile. It was hot so not sure that would have worked.

Warm down:

Collapse? No not really. :) Walked around, got my time which was wrong! Drank 8 oz of Chocolate Milk and slammed an Amino Vital with H20.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming. It is a major limiter.

Event comments:

I like Midwestern Sports puts on a good event. They could have used more water on the course with heat indeces nearing 100F, and maybe more kayaks on the course. Also think there are zebra muscles in this lake. My feet got sliced in a few places.
