Warm down:

None. Went right to the food and beer

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Climbing and Chip Seal were the main issues.

Event comments:

Because of the hills and Chip Seal it is the hardest one day ride of the year. In its own way maybe harder than STP.

I do not think I am going to do the full century again because of the following reasons:

Steep windy descents with riders of different abilities was dangerous.

Unmarked dangerous corners

No flaggers at major intersections

A lack of presence by the race officials on the course.

The Rest Stops were fine and the volunteers friendly. I would like to have seen something to drink other than Water and propel though. For all the reasons listed above and the fact it was the most expensive century of the season I do not think I will do the ride again.

Course: The first big ride after STP. I was hoping to do the 50 and have an easier day. We ended up doing the full 100 miles. The course was similar in difficulty to RACC; I am guessing there was over 5000 ft of climbing. There were 3 long steep climbs that stand out in my mind a day later. Even though the temperature was predicted to be 85 it was overcast and cool until noon when the sun came out. Of course we had already done about 2/3 of the ride. I am a little disappointed with the 14.5 mph average speed. I was hoping to see something closer to 17. However with a headwind from Troutdale to Bybee, the stopping and starting on the Springwater Corridor and all the climbing it was difficult to find a good pace line.
