Event warmup:

Since it was a ride, not a race, I just rode slower at first until I felt ready to go.
Bike
  • 7h 08m
  • 100 miles
  • 14.02 mile/hr
Comments:

People were mostly friendly and used proper etiquette, though I noticed that more riders wearing sponsor jerseys skipped "On your left" than those who didn't. In short, the racers raced, despite the instructions at the beginning, and the riders rode.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more from the beginning. Remember to put on sunscreen. Buy a tiny pump and forget the CO2.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

A flat tire with CO2 complications. Having to walk the Memorial Bridge on the way to and from--quarter mile each way, plus two much smaller bridges to walk.

Event comments:

The worst problem was not at all their fault--after they'd marked the course, another group went through and marked, in the same color, with a similar symbol, another course. But the volunteers were right on top of things, pleasant and helpful. The people who rode were great and the those who chose to race were...racers.

Course: BEAUTIFUL! It went right along the coast a lot of the way; by the seawalls and beaches. Gorgeous and flat. When it shifted inland, it was still really pretty, just rolling. There were some pretty rough parts of the road, but there was also some that had just been paved.
