Swim
Comments: This was my first real wave start, so I started towards the back. I misjudged how slow the back would be, so I probably wasted a minute or two. What would you do differently?: Start more towards the middle of the pack. Transition 1
Comments: Had to check my phone for text messages to make sure my wife hadn't gone into labor (she is over 8 months pregnant and has had our other kids in 8 months). What would you do differently?: It was a decent run from the water to T1, so I'm happy enough with this time. Bike
Comments: Holy Mount Kilimanjaro this was a tough bike. The downhills were really fun due to the slope and turns. I had heard some people had issue with this, but for me it was just fun. The uphills on the other hand were just torture. I have pretty much no way of training for this type terrain. What would you do differently?: Borrow legs from someone else. Transition 2
Comments: Had to check for text messages again. Run
Comments: My quads cramped up real bad for the first two miles; I'm guessing it was due to the tough bike portion. Luckily I got a few decent downhills I could use to stretch them out a bit. What would you do differently?: Need to work on doing tougher bricks to help with the cramping. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit. Got an ART massage. Rev3 does put on a pretty a pretty cool event after wards. Though I do wish they gave you a couple of beers like Waterfront in Chattanooga. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike fitness. I need to keep working on the bike portion. Event comments: Only things I would suggest is to use signs for the Oly/Half diverge on the bike, and hand out a couple of beers after. Last updated: 2011-05-16 12:00 AM
