Swim
Comments: Much improved swim. Relative placement almost up to that of bike and run. What would you do differently?: I drifted left after making the first turn. Sometimes, when I breath exclusively to one side I don't swim quiet as straight. Overall, I was pleased with the swim. Transition 1
Comments: run to T1 was over a quarter mile. I had a little difficulty getting wetsuit off. My T1 was a bit slower than it should have been. Flying leap on bike was good. What would you do differently?: Didn't have suit goop to lubricate inside of suit making it more difficult to take off. Bike
Comments: Right now, my bike is the strongest leg. I thought I was going to ride a little faster. Considering I started this year almost completely detrained, I think the bike is coming along nicely. Transition 2
Comments: the wracks in T2 were a cluster f*ck. Someones stuff was blocking my slot so I had to move it while holding my bike. I spoke with the guy wracked next to me after the race and he said someone had actually taken his spot. Instead of metal wracks that you hang the bike from, these wracks had wood slots and were laying on the ground. To wrack the bike, you put your back wheel in a slot in the wood. What would you do differently?: nada Run
Comments: Poor run. I was completely out of action until around January and then after starting to rebuild, I developed ITBS which knocked me out for several more weeks. I knew going into the race that my run fitness was not nearly as strong as it had been at this time year in previous years. I went out running by feel (the course didn't have mile markers) and had an ugly positive split. The first half I averaged 6:45 per mile, the last couple miles, I averaged 7:31. Ouch. Not good. I didn't stick to the pacing plan on the run deciding to run by feel (of course, with no mile markers or GPS, I didn't really have a choice) and paid for it. What would you do differently?: This is a long year I need to keep my focus on consistency and steadily building my fitness to IMMOO. Historically, I'd be fried by the time a late season IM would come around and wind up hurt with fitness past my peak. Post race
Event comments: Very good race. Well organized and plenty of family activities. Will likely do more REV3 events. My only constructive feedback is get the timing splits correct quicker (they were originally messed up after the race) and put mile markers on the run. Last updated: 2012-04-17 12:00 AM
