Pre-race routine:

Froze buns waiting to start. Bringing a robe next time. Too cold to jump in the hot pool to warm up because I'd have to stand around freezing before getting back into water. Ripped swim cap minutes before race. Sniffed around pool and found a scrunchy to use for my hair.
Ate a banana and had a cup of coffee before race.

I am not used to swimming in a 50m so I got to my 20th stroke, which is when I execute a turn, and viola, more pool. Had a minor breakdown but got my head together and then suddenly, swim over!
What would you do differently?:

Bring robe on a cold day. Warm up in pool no matter what.

My transitions were so freaking smooth for my first race. I am totallly bummed that I didn't get my times recorded. I stashed some shots in my race bag and had the foresight to open them before the race. I tucked them between my teeth and gums and sucked on those through the ride. Worked great!

What would you do differently?:

Perhaps maybe ride a time or two prior to race! Actually the weather has been really bad for riding prior to the race - cold and icy roads. All my bike workouts were in spin class.

Didn't know I needed to do all those things: riding with feet on top of shoes, jumping off moving bike. huh? Ok.
What would you do differently?:

I guess I need to wok on riding with feet on top of shoe, jumping off moving bike (scared I'll skid on my cleats)

Great course if you like hills. One area was poorly marked and I accidently cut the course. Someone pointed it out to me and I went back and ran that section. Probably cost me 5 min. Felt great though. Needed to pee badly through the entire race but made jokes about it to people I passed and got through fine.
What would you do differently?:

I recall not knowing which way to turn at an intersection. I saw some runners down the road and assumed I was to turn left but it was a right turn. I never saw a marker and when I ran past that intersection I looked and still didn't see it. I think it was farther up the road and I dashed by it. Next time I will stop and seach for a marker. I just happened to be alone at the time with no one in front to follow and no one behind to yell out.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran to the bathroom like a maniac. Had to pee the WHOLE time. Thought Id do it in the pool but was too freaked out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

A lot of fun for the first time. Lots of turn and loops that could have used extra hands on the run course..
